The 2018 Billboard Music Awards were last night and if one more person complained about the Vegas heat, I would have reached through my television screen and slapped them silly. A fun fact I learned while watching the red carpet is that Tyra Banks teaches a personal branding class at Stanford. Think she talks to her students like this?
Ariana Grande opened the show followed by Kelly Clarkson, who hosted and performed a medley of all the Billboard hits in lieu of a monologue which I found myself clapping to alone with my dog. Andy Cohen had the worst best seat in the house (along with Darren Criss) behind Taylor Swift dancing like she never left the front row. Halsey and The Chainsmokers paid tribute to Avicii. Gaston Nick Jonas was there.
Christina Aguilera let the genie out with Demi in a powerful performance of their new hit ‘Fall in Line.’ Khalid and Shawn Mendes also gave us the feels performing ‘Youth’ alongside the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Student Choir.
A standout for me was Normani and Khalid’s ‘Love Lies‘ performance. They brought the heat. I also re-watched Ed Sheeran’s live version of ‘Galway Girl’ an unhealthy amount of times… Shortly after Janet Jackson’s epic comeback performance (for the first time in a decade?!), I fell asleep.
What did you guys think?!
