Queen Margo is Everything We Need in a Female Lead

The Magicians

If you haven’t binged the first two seasons of The Magicians on Netflix, you’re highly missing out.

Think: Harry Potter meets The Chronicles of Narnia, but like, way more provocative. The series is focused around a secretive academy and a group of students who discover that the magic they read about as children is very real – and more dangerous than they ever imagined.

Season 3 is currently airing Wednesdays at 9PM ET on Syfy and boy does this show deliver!

Without giving away any spoilers, I wanted to just take a minute to emphasize how important Queen Margo’s character is. The High Queen of Fillory (a magical realm on the show) is a fiercely strong, independent, overtly sexual, unapologetic character. Typically shone as the series’ go-to comic relief, Margo has evolved from Eliot’s faithful right hand woman to a powerful monarch in her own right, which I find fabulous.

The Magicians

A lot of people will favor the term “bossy” but I prefer to look at Margo as a “leader” – and not just because she’s the High Queen. Margo isn’t a bitch; she’s just honest – and equally as gifted in partying as she is magic. #Goals

She doesn’t look at her eye-patch as a hindrance, but more so the perfect accessory to her consistently excellent wardrobe, which I find super relatable because no one is perfect. Shout-out to Summer Bishil (who plays Queen Margo) for portraying such a powerful, flawed and dynamic leading lady.
