Oscars 2018

The 90th Academy Awards were last night. Uggs were worn, outfits were repeated (see below!), Kobe Bryant won, Macaulay Culkin discovered twitter, and Armie Hammer gave the stomach flu to EVERYONE shot hot dogs out of a cannon.

According to TMZ – and a rep from HerpAlert; an online diagnosis and treatment website for the STD – there was a spike in “folks” looking to get treated for herpes over the weekend – just in time for the Oscars ceremony. Gross.

At the Opening Ceremony, Saoirse channeled Gwyneth, I, Adam Rippon looked extra kinky, and there were none for Gretchen Weiners Ryan Seacrest got snubbed. In all seriousness, Ryan should never have volunteered as tribute done the red carpet in light of the recent headlines. Swap him out for G and stick him poolside at the Roosevelt.

Mira Sorvino and Ashley Judd walked the carpet together and it was an amazing sight to see. When asked to speak on Time’s Up and Me Too, they made note that the movement isn’t stopping and that they’re moving forward until there is an equitable and safe world for women.

The Shape of Water won for best picture and Get Out‘s Jordan Peele made history as the first black writer to win best original screenplay.

Back in November, Tiffany Haddish went on SNL wearing the same dress she wore to the premiere of the movie Girls Trip. In the monologue, she promised that it wouldn’t be the last time you’d see her in the gown, because she’d paid actual money for it — like a lot of actual money, as it is an Alexander McQueen number — and it would be crazy to wear it only once.

I’m never giving away anything ever again. Rita Moreno wore the same gown she won her 1962 Oscar in.
