The fashion on tv right now is next level (see: Killing Eve). The purple carpet at this year’s Emmy Awards? Not so much.
I know this might be a hot take, but I really didn’t love any of last night’s looks. Sure, Russian Doll‘s Greta Lee looked cool in her getup and I loved that Jameela Jamil did her own makeup, but that was really the extent of it.
Everyone else flooded the carpet in light blue or pink + red dress combos. And don’t even get me started with the actual awards ceremony. The broadcast was a complete disaster – so much so, that I literally contemplated changing the channel to watch 90 Day Fiance, but instead opted to just call it a night and get some sleep – and whoever approved the snarky voice over commentary should be fired immediately.
My main takeaways: Bran Stark still sucks, I need to binge Fleabag, and Michelle Williams deserves all the awards for that speech on equal pay. Special shout out to Billy Porter for inspiring us all to be ourselves!
Here’s to hoping the next carpet – whatever color it may be – delivers better moments.
