Last night’s 44th Annual American Music Awards took place at the Microsoft Theater in a rainy Downtown Los Angeles. Many famous faces took the (flooded) red carpet with high pony tails (looking at you Ariana and Karlie) seeing as the weather was not totally in their favor.
Bruno Mars opened the show with a performance of his “24K Magic.” Am I the only one who just canNOT get into this song? Hosts Gigi Hadid and Jay Pharoah made me cringe. While I was disappointed Gigi only did a few outfit changes throughout the show, that Cavalli she wore on the red carpet made up for it. I seriously NEED that dress for when I elope.
If you listen to my podcast, you know I’m probs one of The Chainsmokers biggest fans, so when they showed up in Dior and Valentino (down to their socks) sporting florals as an ode to their hit “Roses,” I teared up like a Belieber watching the Justin performance. Highly impressed JB still has such a strong effect on the tweens.
Side Note: I totally held my breath like an overly-involved stage mom during the entire performance of “Closer.” Alex, Drew and Halsey totally made up for their VMAs flop – and they won, so snaps!
Selena Gomez is back and better than ever. Her acceptance speech was incredibly moving. Lady Gaga thought so too.
Anyone else fan girl out when the mini-Degrassi reunion happened with Drake and Nina? I’m twelve years older than Shawn Mendes. Does that officially make me a cougar if I find him attractive? Twenty One Pilots seriously won me over with their humbling acceptance speech. Who’s the guy with the red hair? Asking for a friend…
My best dressed goes to John Legend. His silver velvet bomber legit stole the show.
