After my favorite nail salon turned me away because they were too busy (who does that?!), I marched home to watch episode 8 of The Bachelor. The hometown dates are always my favorite, so my spirits were quickly lifted.

I’m really mad we didn’t get to see Raven’s “boutique” in Arkansas. Instead we’re given a glimpse of her and Nick climbing a grain bin and canoodling in murky water. Still gagging at the thought of a muddy make-out sesh.

Rachel’s hometown date in Dallas sets us back about fifty years. If ABC is trying so desperately to be progressive, they need to stop acting as if interracial dating is a burden. It’s not. That being said, I’d be pissed if my date took me to church.

Corinne’s hometown date in Miami was my favorite of the night – mainly because she takes Nick shopping, shares she’s falling in love, and we FINALLY get to meet Raquel, the nanny! I got into a heated debate over whether Corinne actually paid for those clothes or not. My guess was they were gifted since we got a ton of storefront camera shots. Weigh in on the comments below…

Vanessa brings Nick home to Montreal where they meet her students and her family. Nick asks for her father’s permission to marry Vanessa (like he did the others) and gets called out. This is a stale story line as it happens every single season, but it is pretty despicable that Nick asked all four families for their daughter’s hand.

We’re left with a cliffhanger when Andi Dorfman shows up at Nick’s hotel door. I wonder if she wants to “eff” or “make love” this go-around?
