Let’s get naked!
THE party of the year happened last night and it seemed like all you needed was head gear, a bit of cleav, and a dark lip.
This year’s Met Gala theme was all about China. Since red is considered the luckiest color in the country, and is widely used during festivals and important events – ahem, a Met Ball, perhaps? – it was NO surprise that we were seeing red on more than half of the guest list. Among the best dressed ladies in red were Amal Clooney in Maison Margiela, Sienna Miller in Thakoon, and Rita Ora in Tom Ford.
Anne Hathaway wore a hooded number by Ralph Lauren. The May/Pac fight already happened, no? This sort of reminded me of the scene from Legally Blonde when Elle Woods shows up to a non-costume party dressed as a Playmate. Regardless, I sort of dug this look.
Vogue’s #BratPack was in full force: Kendall Jenner (my fav of the evening) wore a gorgeous Calvin Klein gown, GiGi Hadid in a red DVF, Ansel Elgort looked suave as ever in Tom Ford, and the Biebs himself made a cameo in a Balmain gold blazer.
Can we also note that Selena Gomez (who wore Vera Wang) was also in attendance? My inner fan-girl is hoping there was some sort of “Jelena” encounter.
Solange Knowles wore a jellyfish (and avoided all elevators), Katie Couric learned how to Periscope, Dakota Johnson flaunted a serious cat eye, and Miley was being Miley – in Vera Wang of course.
Let’s discuss SJP. Her dress was H&M and by now, I’m sure you’ve seen all the fire emoji and Chuckie Finster references, but I have to give her snaps – the girl knows how to stay on theme.
The ultimate mic drop of the evening? Rihanna in Guo Pei. Boom.
