I Feel Pretty

There are certain movies I could watch on loop for-ev-errrr; Clueless, No Strings Attached, That Awkward Moment, How To Be Single, Mean Girls – I’m officially adding I Feel Pretty to this list.

STX sent me to a private screening last night and I legit left the theater in search of an ice cream truck and wanting to bone with the lights on post cookie dough scarf (go see the movie). As someone who didn’t really come into my own until I found my voice through my style and the way I dress, I could really relate to I Feel Pretty‘s uplifting message about confidence.

Renee (Amy Schumer) struggles with feelings of insecurity and inadequacy about herself both outwardly and inwardly. After suffering a fall during a spin class, she wakes up believing that her physical appearance has changed to what she believes is the perfect version of herself, but unbeknownst to her, she looks exactly the same. With Renee’s new found “beauty”, she feels empowered, fearless, and marches through life oozing self-confidence; see: the wet bikini contest scene.

Critics are hating, and I do wish there was a bit more of Michelle Williams strewn throughout as she was surprisingly a comedic delight, but overall I Feel Pretty is a genuine, heartfelt, emotional – and relatable! – comedy that anyone who has ever felt a little unsure and a little un-pretty can relate too.
