New York fashion week has taken some heavy heat the past few seasons when it comes to street style. Remember this? While working on an piece that has yet to be published (wait for it..!), I came across a Wall Street Journal article featuring Mick Jagger. Instant nostalgia hit (note: nostalgia is actually “in fashion” at the moment) and I began daydreaming of a time circa 1971 where E! News existed and Bianca and Mick’s whirlwind romance swept the covers of US Weekly’s “Who Wore it Best?” – you guys, this is legit the stuff that goes through my mind. Can you imagine the street style inspo we’d get?!
Bianca Jagger is probably best known for being both the first wife of Mick Jagger and one of the most impeccably stylish women in the world. After catching the Rolling Stones’ frontman’s eye at an after-party in France, the two tied the knot less than a year later. A staple at Studio 54, always decked to the nines in luxurious furs, sequins and exquisitely tailored white YSL trouser suits, Bianca’s best accessory was never Mick – although, let’s be honest, the way he looked at her!!! – but rather the confidence she exuded.
With fashion week and the fall season quickly approaching, I write this in hopes that we all take a beat when getting dressed and style our getups to impress ourselves rather than the street style photogs who will be lurking outside Skylight at Clarkson Square. And for the fun of it, let’s reminisce about the cooler-than-cool pair dripping with ’70s glamour because their relationship was seriously beautiful while it lasted.
