Sustainable Fashion

According to Rent the Runway, the average person throws out 83 pounds of clothing per year – and fast fashion has A LOT to do with it. This (and my shoe-box of an apartment) is the main reason why I opt for RTR’s unlimited program. Why buy something you’re only going to wear once, no?

I decided to take a deeper dive into the impact fashion has on our planet & how we as a whole can make a sustainable impact. For starters, renting rather than buying is beyond ideal. Like I said, my closet space is limited, so companies like Rent the Runway who offer a rotating wardrobe AND dry cleaning is super clutch. If that’s not your thing though, H&M is also pioneering the future of sustainable fashion by investing in the innovation of alternative materials. I’m talking plant based clothing – think; clothes made from pineapple leaves, orange peels and algae!

H&M is also taking the sustainability factor one step further by providing us the opportunity to bring any used clothing or fabric of ANY kind (including socks, undies, rags, etc.) of any brand to their stores to recycle. The items are then sent to the nearest recycling plant, where they’re sorted by hand. For every bag of textiles you drop off, you’ll receive a discount card for 15% off your next in-store purchase.

H&M’s Conscious Exclusive Collection drops April 11th.
Happy Earth Month my loves! x
