Miami Swim Week was on F-I-R-E this weekend and not just because of the summer heat. Sports Illustrated (finally!) unveiled their highly anticipated collection – which did not disappoint btw – and girls decked in Same Swim had me scraping pennies for the suit in my Shopbop cart.
Inspired by the Greek Islands, the Bahamas, Hawaii and Malibu, California-based swimwear brand, Baes and Bikinis debuted a sexy swimwear line with plenty of knits, crochet, and delicate details at the W South Beach Wet Deck. The collection combined imported soft fabrics and seamless comfort to encompass the lifestyle of the perfect low cut island bikini mixed with a flirty Malibu fit.
Indah debuted its MAGIC CARPET RIDE collection at SWIMMIAMI at the Vintro Tent on Sunday, July 23, 2017 to a jam packed crowd of leading editors, buyers and celebrity influencers who are die-hard fans of the line including Helen Owen, Alyssa Lynch, Caroline Einhoff, Bridget Baul, Kaitlynn Carter, Whitney Fransway, Madison Louch, Vale Gente, and more.
The MAGIC CARPET RIDE collection was simultaneously live-steamed on the company’s website in order to promote the brand’s first foray into the “see now-buy now” movement as 12 of the boho-chic pieces became available for purchase the moment they were shown live on the models!
In this spirit of Indonesian beauty, Indah featured the sexy defining bohemian flair meets vintage Vogue aesthetic that they are known for, while introducing new, color patterns and prints. “This collection will allow you to find yourself in Ibiza in 1977 with a flower in your hair and a cocktail in your hand,” explained DeSantis. Forever a free spirit, DeSantis’ designs feature exotic influences from both her home in Bali as well as inspiration from her travels around the world.
Hot-As-Hell stayed true to their name with a breathtaking show full of celebrities and tastemakers. In its third season, Hot-As-Hell has become the HAH-t ticket during swim week treating guests to an evening of fashion entertainment that celebrated diversity featuring women of all shapes, ages and ethnicities.
The show began with Chantel Jeffries announcing the collection and inviting the audience on the journey through paradise found followed by a dynamic lyrical dance performance to Kanye’s “Ultralight Beam” in a jaw dropping moment that had guests who were turned away by the fire marshall pressing against the glass of the tent to get glimpse.
The show included a combination of ready-to-wear, swimwear and lingerie. The collection flowed through an array of color palettes inspired by natural elements juxtaposed with corsets and flowy lacy pieces. The brand’s signature machine washable lace was delicately layered with tiered ruffles and lingerie pieces that celebrated a woman’s individuality. Stand out swimwear pieces included a suspender clad high-waisted corset bikini and an elevated animal print, ultra high-cut one-piece inspired by birds of a feather. The third theme of the collection centered around a beautiful print featuring Chinese characters that translate into Hot-As-Hell aptly named HAH chinous.
For the second season, the children’s collection and the adorable child models stole the show. The designer’s own daughters walked the runway in swimwear paired effortlessly with pint sized versions of one of their HAH-kind up-cycled bomber jackets that have become a sought after item among celebrities and influencers.
HAH’s 2018 collection was inspired by the origins of natural beauty – mother earth. The collection, Paradis Trouvé | Paradise Found, is symbolic of the brand’s roots in natural, ethical product for women. The brand famously attracts models that are at the forefront of trend-setting and cool confidence including Sam Blacky, X-men star and model Omahry Mota and famous You-Tuber, Erica Costell.
Through eco-friendly design and manufacture HAH proves it’s never too late to #startsomewhere and beautiful fashion can be ethical fashion. The brand focuses on using eco-friendly EFL swim fabric and an upcycling program, in addition to green manufacturing practices, in particular digital printing of prints.
Notable attendees included Allen Crabbe (NBA player), Ashley Nicole (WAGS Miami), Darnelle Nicole (WAGS Miami), Darnell Dockett (retired NFL player), Phillip Wheeler (NFL player), Barbie Blank (WAGS LA), Samantha Hoopes (Sports Illustrated Model), Chantel Jeffries (Actress/Influnecer) and Yes Julz (Influnecer).
Silvia Ulson debuted her Cruise 2018 collection at the Wet Deck of the W Hotel in South Beach. The colors of Brazile and “Denim Couture” inspired this collection into a vision that reflects comfort, and casual unpretentiousness infused with a generous dose of Brazilian glamour. This is the mood of the SU brand. Icons of fashion, music, and street-style are major fashion influences. Several key pieces in the collection go from day to night, beach-to-bar, and can be seen as accessories in and of themselves as they are embellished with unique embroidery and appliqués.
KAOHS Swim, a California-based swimwear company, made their second runway appearance at Miami Swim Week and showcased their 2018 collection at the W hotel (Wet Deck). A favorite among influencers like Kim and Kourtney Kardashian, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Bella Hadid, Rocky Barnes, Alexis Ren, Pia Mia, Natasha Oakley, and more, KAOHS rocked the runway at this year’s Swim Week.
The 2018 runway show featured high-waisted, hip-bone-grazing, deep-V bottoms matched with minimalist bandeau tops and body hugging triangle tie-sides with ruffle embellishments. The off-the-shoulder hip-bone-revealing one-pieces in pretty pastels add a flirty twist to the line’s fitted style that comes across more innocent than vixen.
