With 2,925 athletes representing 90 nations (and Celebrity Big Brother & The Bachelor Winter Games, duh!), it’s been virtually impossible to keep up with all the can’t miss moments coming out of PyeongChang. From Jamie Anderson putting it down during the slopestyle comp – despite the crazy wind conditions – to Shaun White chucking his helmet into the crowd after his epic first run in the halfpipe to Mirai Nagasu landing a TRIPLE AXEL (see above!), it’s been a pretty thrilling Olympic games – and the women’s figure skating only started last night!
Some highlights so far…
Norway’s curling team is always known for their bold style, but when they hit the ice on Valentine’s Day, they turned my heart to gold.
Side Note: I still don’t fully understand why a curler would need to dope.
Red Gerard aka my new favorite teen. This kid overslept, lost his jacket, said “holy f*ck” on television, and the proceeded to win the first gold medal for the US.
And what have you done today?
#ItsGusBitch – a hashtag created by Britney Spears!
Gus Kenworthy reportedly warms up to one of her songs so the bitch herself tweeted out some love and support to both Rippon and Kenworthy — who are the first openly gay American athletes to compete in the Winter Olympics.
It’s been a rough ride for Nathan Chen (he fell a lot), but those SIX quad jumps – more than anyone has ever done in an Olympic event btw – during his free skate were a great start to his inevitable redemption tour come 2021.
Adam Rippon said “thanks, but no thanks” to an NBC Correspondent position in favor of soaking up the full Olympic experience with his teammates.
Also, he’s like really pretty. Sally Field thinks so too.
Markus Schairer finishing his snowboard cross comp after literally breaking his neck. Luckily, there’s no serious, permanent damage.
When asked for comment, Markus said he’ll “walk soon”…
BTW, what’d you guys think of USA’s Opening Ceremony gloves?!
